Electrician prices in Chichester: what electrical work really costs

Hourly rates and call-outs
For smaller jobs, we charge a call-out fee that includes the first hour of labour, then bill in 15-minute increments after that. During standard hours (8am to 6pm), labour is £55 per hour with a £65 call-out including the first hour. Out of hours (6pm to 8am), labour is £80 per hour with a £95 call-out.
A minimum charge of one hour applies, and parts and materials are added to the invoice. You will always know the rate before we start.
EICR costs in Chichester
An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) checks the safety of your property's wiring. Landlords need one by law at least every five years, and homebuyers increasingly ask for them too.
Our fixed domestic EICR prices are £150 for a 1 to 2 bed flat (up to 8 circuits), £170 for a 2 bed house (up to 10 circuits) and £190 for a 3 bed house (up to 12 circuits). Additional fuse boards within the same property are £50 each, and properties with more circuits may cost slightly more.
For commercial EICR testing, pricing is based on the size of the installation: £55 per board plus £17.50 per circuit during standard hours.
Fuse board upgrades
Replacing an old fuse board (consumer unit) with a modern unit with RCD protection is one of the most common safety upgrades we do. Prices start from £180, with additional circuits charged at £40 each on an upgrade. If your fuse board still has rewirable fuses or no RCD protection, it is worth getting checked.
Fault finding
Tripping circuits, dead sockets and flickering lights are usually a fault-finding job. These start from £65, which covers the call-out and first hour. Most faults are found and fixed within that first visit.
EV charger installation costs
A home EV charger installation typically starts from £1,200 for a quality smart charger such as the Zappi, including up to 10 metres of cabling, with additional cable at £15 per metre. Every install is carried out to current regulations by a NAPIT registered electrician, fully tested and certified.
